Paediatric First Aid - 2 days 

This Paediatric Course meets all EYFS/OFSTED requirements. It is designed for those with a responsibility for the care of children and babies on a professional level providing the knowledge and practical competence to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations.  This regulated 12-hour qualification meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The qualification consists of two units which learners must successfully complete to achieve the full qualification. It is valid for three years.

Content includes.

 

Day 1

  • As per Emergency Paediatric First Aid.

 

Day 2

  • Injuries to bones, muscles and joints.

  • Head injury and spinal injury.

  • Foreign bodies/eye injuries.

  • Diabetic emergency.

  • Asthma attack.

  • Allergy and anaphylaxis.

  • Meningitis.

  • Febrile convulsions.

  • Hypothermia/ extreme heat.

  • Electric shock.

  • Burns and scalds.

  • Poisoning.

 

The qualification is assessed through a range of practical scenarios, oral questioning and written assessment. A learner must successfully pass both the written and practical assessments to achieve the qualification.

Maximum number of students     12

Paediatric First Aid- blended learning (6 hrs online and 6 hrs in the classroom).

This course offers an excellent alternative for those who are simply unable to spare the time to attend 2 days in a classroom only course. The online course must be completed prior to attending the classroom session.
